MIKAYLA GOLD BENSON

RESUME

Mikayla Gold Benson is a director and actor whose work calls audiences into the present moment. She brings an electric curiosity to the stage and rehearsal room, with sketches and bold questions.

For Mikayla, to direct a play is to begin again, not start fresh, but to interrupt familiar habits and reorient ourselves towards a collective mission. Mikayla aims to facilitate and guide work that provokes change in the room, in the audience, her communities, and all neighbors.

She believes that theatre's greatest strength lies in knowing that it cannot and should not be made alone. When a play truly speaks to her, it’s not her voice that carries it — it’s the shared voice of a collective that commits to making something urgent and personally resonant, together.

Mikayla builds work that listens deeply, moves boldly, and asks us all to look a little closer. In her work with female ensembles, she creates space for discoveries that can’t happen alone — moments of recognition where voices meet, sharpen one another, and open the door to something not yet named.
